Awards Program
The 20th Fighter Wing Association is proud to recognize individuals and organizations whose service, achievement, and dedication help preserve and strengthen the heritage of the 20th Fighter Wing.
Aerial Achievement Award
Created in 1997, the Aerial Achievement Award recognizes noteworthy airmanship by a 20th Fighter Wing pilot during the preceding calendar year.
The type and character of the airmanship recognized is determined by the 20th Fighter Wing Commander.
Force Multiplier Award
Established in 2008, the Force Multiplier Award recognizes a noteworthy contribution to the mission of the 20th Fighter Wing by an enlisted member.
Selection is made at the discretion of the 20th Fighter Wing Commander, with involvement from the Command Chief.
Base Support Enhancement Award
This award recognizes a DOD civilian or base volunteer whose behind-the-scenes efforts make a significant contribution to the overall mission, health, and morale of Wing personnel.
The selection process is initiated by the 20th Fighter Wing Commander with input from squadron and group commanders.
Outstanding Service Awards
The Association also recognizes organizations whose work helps preserve the history and legacy of the 20th Fighter Wing and the bases where its members served.
Wethersfield Airfield Museum
Wethersfield Airfield Museum preserves the history of the airfield and the experiences of the thousands of U.S. Air Force personnel who served there.
The museum emphasizes personal visitor experiences, guided tours, artifacts, stories, and the continuing preservation of Wethersfield's aviation heritage.
Upper Heyford Heritage Centre
Upper Heyford served as home to the 20th TFW/FW from 1970 through 1993 and remains an important location in the Wing's history.
The Heritage Centre supports airbase tours and continues collecting photographs, uniforms, stories, memorabilia, and veteran memories.
Bentwaters Cold War Museum
The Bentwaters Cold War Museum preserves the shared history of RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge and works to ensure that their Cold War story is not lost.
Its collections include material relating to the 79th Fighter Squadron, along with photographs, memorabilia, and stories contributed by veterans.
